Let’s talk about why people choose the $4,000 per week for life instead of the $2,000,000 up front. It’s the same reason why people stay at a job and don’t venture off into entrepreneurship or investing. People see the $4,000 per week the same way they see a paycheck coming from a 9-5. They adhere to the belief that as long as they clock in, they will get a check. So, people believe as long as they are still kicking and breathing, that $4,000 per week check will continue to come in. But what happens if you get fired? Will that paycheck still be coming in? What happens when you die? Will that $4,000 per week still be coming in? That indoctrination coupled with financial illiteracy is the reason why so many people are passing down generational poverty instead of generational wealth.
What if an emergency comes up that costs more than $4,000? Would waiting another week to get another $4,000 check to cover the costs make that emergency more stressful?
I enjoy seeing that question come across my timeline because I read through the responses and see just how little so many people know about money. Many comments that I frequently saw involved fear. Quite a few people didn’t choose the $2,000,000 because they were afraid they would blow, waste, or squander the wealth. They didn’t trust themselves with that much money! That is very telling! It tells that people know how to spend money, but they don’t know how to save money. It shows that they didn’t put two plus two together to realize they may need to hire a financial coach to teach them how to expand on that money and not waste it. They would much rather be spoon fed their wealth with the $4,000 per week option because if they spend all of it, at least they know another check is coming.
How did we get here as a people where so many of us are afraid of being wealthy? Why are so many people content with hustling, bragging on social media about having 3 jobs, constantly chasing a bag that they either won’t catch, or will fumble when they do catch it because they lack the financial education to know what to do once the bag is secured? Why do people settle for just surviving when they have only one life to live?
